BUYING PROCESS

Installation, warranty & aftercare

Prepare the final handover and the information needed after delivery.

Define the stage and its responsibilities

Identify which installation activities are included and which require a local contractor. Record quantities and condition at handover using the item references. Retain the agreed warranty terms, supporting documents and named contact for any later service request.

The information to keep together

  • Assembly and installation instructions
  • Local installer responsibilities
  • Item condition and quantity checks
  • Care information and spare parts
  • Written warranty and claims contact

Create a clear approval record

Use the same item references throughout the purchase. For each milestone, record what is being reviewed, who must approve it and where the accepted version is stored. If a supplier proposes a substitution or revised date, connect the change to the affected products and the people responsible for the next stage.

A useful handover to the next stage

RecordPurpose
Master item scheduleA shared reference for the products and quantities involved.
Approved selectionsThe accepted dimensions, materials, finishes or documents.
Open questionsSpecific points that still need a supplier response or project decision.
Next responsibilityThe person or organisation that takes the next action.

Compare published service scope

Use the linked supplier pages to identify the services you want included, then confirm the proposed scope in the actual quotation. A general service description and the terms of a particular project should be read together.

Develop the practical specification

Separate installation from product supply

A quotation may cover delivery of products while leaving assembly, building connections and final finishing to the destination team. Identify those boundaries before ordering. Provide the installer with the manufacturer’s instructions and actual product information. Specialist electrical, plumbing, structural or other regulated work needs the appropriate local expertise. An attractive final image cannot establish that every required installation step has been completed, so the handover record should identify the tasks, responsible people and completion evidence relevant to the actual project.

Turn care information into an item record

Different surfaces and components can need different maintenance. Connect the care instructions to the exact material, finish and product reference rather than presenting one general routine for the whole home. Retain hardware identifiers and any replaceable-part information. Give the owner or property manager a practical way to find those records after the original buying conversation ends. If a service question develops, the item reference, observed condition and relevant history give the supplier a clearer starting point than a photograph without context.

Read warranty and remedy scope

Request the written terms for the actual products and destination arrangement. Record the contact, information required for a claim and the process for reviewing a proposed remedy. Do not equate a long headline period with the same coverage for every component, transport event or installation condition. Keep the accepted terms with the purchase documents and preserve records of any agreed variation. A clear aftercare plan also identifies who coordinates a repair or replacement at the property when the original supplier is overseas.
